As a kid, he grew up traveling the country to many events with his father. His high school years were spent working under his father, who was the then Ranch Manager at G&G Longhorns. He obtained a marketing degree while working for Pennsylvania Longhorn breeder, Rob Fenza. In 2009, Ben Gravett contacted Bear about coming to G&G to run their operation. In August 2009, Bear headed to Virginia.
In 2015 and after years of being asked, "would you work with other breeders?", Bear started Eastwind StockCo Consulting. "My whole goal was to help those who wanted help to make Longhorns more fulfilling in both enjoyment and profit," says Bear. "I get to work with some of the best people and share a passion that's in my blood."
While G&G has always been a household name, many things have continued to grow like the Cherry Blossom Sale and the G&G Fall Roundup. Bear's been awarded by the TLCA as one of the Top 20 Under 40, along with Ranch Manager of the Year, and for the 2016 Breeder of the Year by the ITLA.
Along with his continued tenure at G&G, Eastwind provides its service to more than 10 programs. "I want to see the Longhorn community grow and prosper. A rising tide lifts all ships. When people are working toward the big picture of a prospering industry, everyone benefits. I want to treat everyone the way I want to be treated. I think that goes a long way in providing a positive experience to many people."
